The Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Justin Maxwell from the Houston Astros, according to sources.

Maxwell is hitting .241/.311/.387 with two home runs and eight RBI in 137 at-bats this season.

The Astros will receive right-hander Kyle Smith.

The Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers have completed a massive three-team trade that will send Jake Peavy to the American League East.

The Red Sox and White Sox had been discussing a deal for days, but it didn't become a reality until they engaged the Tigers on Tuesday.

The Tigers will receive shortstop Jose Iglesias from Boston, providing depth should Jhonny Peralta be suspended in the Biogenesis scandal as expected.

The White Sox acquired outfield prospect Avisail Garcia from the Tigers and three prospects from the Red Sox -- right-handers Francelis Montas and J.B. Wendelken and infielder Cleuluis Rondon.

Boston also acquired another player from Detroit, right-handed reliever Brayan Villarreal, who is currently with Triple-A Toledo.

The Cleveland Indians have acquired Marc Rzepczynski from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for minor league infielder Juan Herrera.

Rzepcynzski was optioned to Triple-A Memphis at the end of April after a rough start to the season.

The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired Jesse Crain from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for player(s) to be named later or cash considerations.

The compensation reportedly hinges on Crain's health. He is currently on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

The Atlanta Braves have acquired Scott Downs from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Cory Rasmus.

Rasmus was 3-1 with a 1.72 ERA and 14 saves with Triple-A Gwinnett.

The New York Yankees have officially acquired Alfonso Soriano from the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs will pay $17.7 million of the $24.5 million remaining on Soriano's deal, which runs through 2014. New York will pay just $5 million for him next season.

Chicago will receive right-hander Corey Black. He is currently at the Single-A level.

The Red Sox have fortified their bullpen by acquiring Matt Thornton from the White Sox.

Boston sent Minor League outfielder Brandon Jacobs to Chicago in the deal.

The Dodgers landed starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco from the Marlins on Saturday in exchange for minor league pitchers Steven Ames, Josh Wall and Angels Sanchez, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Cubs have traded minor league infielder Ronald Torreyes to the Astros in exchange for two of Houston's international bonus slots.

Chicago completed three trades on Tuesday.

They also dealt Scott Feldman to the Orioles and Carlos Marmol to the Dodgers.

The Cubs have traded Carlos Marmol to the Dodgers for reliever Matt Guerrier.

Los Angeles also acquired international signing bonus slot No. 4 from the Cubs as part of the deal.

Chicago got two international signing bonus slots from Baltimore in an earlier trade on Tuesday.

A source tells ESPN's Jayson Stark that if Marmol doesn't work out in L.A. and the Dodgers release him, the Cubs would owe the Dodgers additional money only if another team signs Marmol.
